SAANICH PENINSULA PIPE BAND

About Us
Saanich Peninsula Pipe Band (SPPB) is one of the longest-running civilian pipe bands on Vancouver Island. Initially known as the Sooke Highlanders before relocating to the Sidney area and becoming the Saanich Peninsula Pipe Band. Our signature band uniform includes the Hunting McGregor tartan, Argyll Jacket and vest, and black balmorals. Operating under the Societies Act of BC, the SPPB has an annually elected executive and board and is currently a non-competing band with future competitive aspirations for both individuals and the band as a whole.
What We Do
Throughout the year, the SPPB participates in parades and other performances. We currently offer instruction to student and developing pipers, encouraging their active involvement in the band. Members pay a modest annual fee, and the SPPB provides a uniform kit to pipers and drummers. The Pipe Major sets the music, expectations, performance selections, and band standards.

The aim of the SPPB is to create a welcoming and supportive environment of comradery that celebrates the beauty of Celtic music! Our regular practices are held every Tuesday from 7-9 pm at the Masonic Temple Hall located at 8105 Derrinberg Road (near the airport).
Our Community, Sponsors and Supporting Colleague Bands
The SPPB has become a vital part of Vancouver Island’s vibrant Saanich Peninsula communities, and our support and presence also go well beyond those borders.

As a non-profit society, the SPPB depends on financial support from performance fees and donations, as well as contributions from its sponsors.

The SPPB proudly acknowledges and gives thanks to the ongoing contributions and support of its Sponsors.

Spectators of all ages enjoy seeing the various colours and hearing the large sound of massed pipes and drums. To this end, the SPPB continues to invite participation in its events from colleague bands within the broader piping and drumming community, and we acknowledge and appreciate that ongoing support.
